A young man from a poor proletarian family successfully graduates from university, meets a girl who grew up in an orphanage - and surprises his surroundings, greedy relatives and a friend from a rich bourgeois family, by refusing any benefits. Just like every year, Dr. Burke comes to visit the old man who is being cared for by his nurse Dobruše. In a small, not very cosy room, the two friends have incredible adventures in which, thanks to their imagination, the most ordinary things change their function, fantasies become reality and a crazy world is created in which everything is possible. This experimental film, which is essentially a game within a game, completely breaks away from the usual standard of Barrandov productions and has rightly caught the attention of critics and insider viewers alike.

The story of Jarda Kuchař, a hero of the bygone era of Tuzex vouchers. His income comes from renting out his own apartment. Every summer, he is forced to spend his time at an abandoned pond, where he runs an even more abandoned snack bar. His right-hand man (and he is left-handed) is the local simpleton Kamil Hošpes. Among the handful of customers are two tractor drivers, Jirka and Péťa, and Jarda's sworn enemy, the fanatical fisherman Pepa Vrtílek with his dog Pepík. The capricious summer days are disrupted by an apparition of monstrous proportions. Lojza, a monster catfish, emerges from the depths of the third irrigation category and eats Vrtílek's dog. Jarda Kuchař sees Lojza as an opportunity to revive local tourism. He calls on fishermen from all over the country. And two actually arrive...

The story takes place in two kingdoms—Tatranský and Vltavský. The royal parents of the former have a son of marriageable age, while the latter have a daughter at an age when princesses are most interested in choosing a noble groom, preferably at a lavish ball. However, Princess Liduška is interested in only one thing in the whole world—her beloved carrier pigeons. She devotes all her time to them, and the only man she communicates with, of course via pigeon post, is an unknown fellow breeder. But Prince Vranko is also not interested in getting married and ascending the throne... And to top it all off, the clever maneuvers that Liduška and Vranko use to thwart their parents' wedding plans are complicated by a magical duo—the wizard Čaro and the witch Boska.

It’s the start of the hunting season. The animals of the forest board a small bus and flee to safety. When hunters stop the bus in the middle of the night, its passengers reveal their true natures in fear for their lives.
